Welcome to our 16th century, granite longère in Locmaria, Séglien

A village in the heart of Central Brittany, a short distance from Cléguérec, Guéméne-sur-Scorff and Pontivy.

Our longère, originally two farms and still complete with its impressive ancient bread oven, is situated just a stone’s throw from the chapel of Locmaria, with its fountain and the beautiful mixed woodland of Coet an Fao, where there are many walks and cycle rides to enjoy.

Today the longère is divided into three dwellings, and the surrounding garden offers a quiet and spacious natural environment where we grow our own produce and welcome a rich variety of birds.

Testimonials

  • We just want to say a huge thank you for your generous hospitality during our stay last week. The gîte was beautiful and fully equipped; there was nothing else we needed. Your help in visiting different destinations was invaluable. We loved the impromptu Breton evening in the old school hall, it added to the ambiance. The meal you cooked was par excellence, as usual. We will certainly be visiting again; it is such a beautiful part of France. Once again, a huge thank you.

Miam ! Miam ! (et Gwenn, qui m’a accueilli chaque matin) I’ve had a wonderful stay ; the gîte was exceptionally comfortable and charming, the area is full of wildlife. There are numerous ‘balades et randonnées’ from the gîte and many pretty and historic towns nearby which I’ve enjoyed exploring. This is the perfect place to soak up rural French life the Breton way.

A note on the name Agaric from the Oxford Companion to Food by Alan Davidson: Agaric, an old term for any mushroom, is derived from the Greek name for mushroom, agarikon... (It) comprises all the families of 'mushroom shaped' fungi.
